Meet the Team - CTP, France

Equipe CTP Cornerstone

CTP (Centre Technique de l' Industrie des Papiers Cartons et Celluloses), France

What are your main tasks in the project?

Thanks to its equipment and long-standing expertise in process water management for the pulp and paper industry, CTP is involved in WP1 to characterize the process waters and define the water treatment needs; in WP2, to build the digital twins of two European ESSITY mills; and in WP3, to assess the water management strategies and test the technology train for the pulp and paper industry at a pilot scale.

What are your goals?

Our main goal is to support our pulp and paper partner, ESSITY, in implementing new technologies within their processes to reduce fresh water withdrawals. Through the CORNERSTONE project, CTP will enhance its knowledge and expertise in new water treatment technologies. Subsequently, CTP will be able to transfer these newly acquired skills to the pulp and paper industry.

What is your motivation and what excites you the most about your work?

Our motivation is driven by our commitment to helping the pulp and paper industry reduce its environmental impact and implement efficient solutions to address water scarcity. The CORNERSTONE project will enable further advancements in closing water process circuits, recovering energy, and reusing solutes within the process.

Which impact do you think your research/work will have on the future?

The CORNERSTONE project is an opportunity to contribute to the European Green Deal by developing new technologies to recover water, energy and solutes. Thanks to its strong links with the paper industry, CTP will actively contribute to disseminate Cornerstone's breakthrough, by assisting its integration in paper-making processes. This will contribute to enhance European paper industry sustainability, competitiveness and integration in the circular economy.
